Well, we’ve come up with a temporary solution to the statsbox problem, so
I ran stats last night. I’ve also re-enabled the nightly runs for now.
distributed.net staff keep (relatively) up-to-date logs of their activities in .plan files. These were traditionally available via finger, but we've put them on the web for easier consumption.

Guess we shouldn’t have celebrated the new CPUs in statsbox so loudly…
it seems that we’re having some kind of hard drive problem now. The box
is up, and stats are up, but we won’t be able to do a statsrun until we
get this fixed. }:8(

In case any of you don’t track how long the statsrun takes on a daily
basis ;) ….
Normally the run takes ~4:15. Tonight it took ~2:30. While I wish I could
say this was due to our stellar coding skills, I can’t. :( The good news
is that I can report that our new PIII-500s have made a big difference
(well, the change of 66MHz to 100MHz FSB probably had a huge impact as
well, since that’s the bus that the memory sits on).
You may all thank Sedriss and Grub for their donation of one CPU a piece.
Enjoy!

Ok… I guess this is what I guess for saying this would only take ten
minutes. The update query is currently blocked by one of the statsrun
queries. If the query doesn’t clear soon, I’ll just turn stats back on.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Per jfc’s request, I’m combining fr and fx in the stats database. I’ve
turned access off while I’m doing this to protect data integrity (though
it shouldn’t be needed). Should be back up in ten minutes or less.

For those of you wondering about stats for Feb. 19… no, they didn’t run.
I’m pretty sure we ran out of disk space again (we were VERY close when
I looked today). I’ve cleaned out some old stuff, so we should be good to
go. Rather than doing a statsrun in the middle of the day, I’ll just let
to-night’s statsrun handle things.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Stats are still running happily away, and should finish sometime tonight,
so I’ve turned web access back on. Since web access was disabled during
the 2/9 and 2/10 runs, the static pages are out of date right now (they’re
probably showing 2/11 data). As 2/12 and 2/13 run, they should update
(2/11 is running right now, fwiw).
:: 13-Feb-2000 23:55 (Sunday) ::
Stats are now running for 2/9-2/11. I’ve turned off web access in order
to speed this up.
:: 13-Feb-2000 23:19 (Sunday) ::
Update: after further investigation, the stats for 2/9 were actually run
twice, so I will also be removing that day and re-importing.
:: 13-Feb-2000 23:08 (Sunday) ::
As some of you have noticed, the data for 2/10 is MIA from stats. I’m not
sure what caused this, but in order to fix it I plan on re-importing that
day. As well, stats didn’t run last night, so I’ll re-run those at the
same time. The easiest way for me to do this is just to remove 2/11 from
the database and run all 3 days, which is what I intend to do, so don’t
be alarmed when the data from 2/11 ‘disappears’ all the sudden.
