As many of you have probably noticed, we ran into a “problem” today that
has resulted in underreporting on the stats site. Due to human error,
the “assigned blocks” and the “completed blocks” tables on the keymaster
were pointed to the same file during the cycle to a new keyslice.
The result of this mixup is that about 1.2 million valid blocks were
discarded as duplicates on the keymaster. This is also why dctievent and
the proxyinfo page were reporting very low overall keyrates all morning.
Since we’ve learned to be overly-cautious when it comes to logging, there
is no data loss. All dupes are logged, and therefore we will be able to
simply parse out the dupe logs and credit everyone who has lost blocks.
I would anticipate this happening in the next few days, as soon as we can
code and test a script to perform the recovery.
I apologize for the low stats in today’s run, and recognize that it
hasn’t affected everyone equally, which is frustrating. We’ll do
everything we can to correct the discrepancy as soon as possible and get
stats correct again.
Also, team member stats will be officially online monday. Thanks for
your patience.
